Rob Nelson, P.E. (ME) S.E. (MA) is a structural engineer currently licensed in the states of Maine and Massachusetts. Rob is a current member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and the Structural Engineers Association of Maine (SEAM)

Rob Nelson graduated from Northeastern University College of Engineering with both a Bachelors and Masters of Science in Civil Engineering, with a concentration in Structural Engineering in January 2016. Upon graduation he accepted a position at Becker Structural Engineers in Portland, Maine. During his time with Becker Structural he analyzed, designed, detailed, and managed projects ranging from residential wood framed single family homes to commercial steel framed court houses, hospitals, and public schools with construction budgets as high as 60 million. Rob worked closely with Architects through all phases of design including Schematic Design, Design Documents, Construction Documents and also worked closely with contractors during the Construction Administration phase of the project.

In Fall of 2021 Rob accepted a Structural Engineering position with Harriman Architecture and Design where he continued to work designing, managing, and handling construction administration for commercial buildings primarily in the healthcare, higher education, and public school sectors. He remained with Harriman until January 2024 when RN Engineering Design became full time.

Cape Cod

As a Cape Cod native Rob has split time between Maine and Cape Cod with his wife and two daughters since 2021. It was that summer he reconnected with a summer internship mentor from college, and decided to start RN Engineering Design. With family ties in both Maine and on Cape Cod he continues to design primarily residential homes from the mountains of Maine, to the islands of Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard while enjoying the flexibility of self-employment with his family.
